At the meeting of Licensed Victuallers last night, a deputation was appointed to wait on several Members of the House of Representatives this afternoon, placing before them the suggestions and alterations in the new Act which would be prejudicial to publicans.
The body of a newly-born infant was found on the Kaiwarra beach last night. As yet there is no clue to the mother.
At the Magistrate's Court, Annie Petersen and Lena Smith, two young girls, were sentenced to six months' hard labour for larceny from a dwelling. ,
At the Compensation Court, in the case Zirkcaldie and Stains r. General Government, judgment was given for the plaintiffs for £4,853 and 50 guineas costs. The claim was for £5,750, value of land taken by the defendant for the new Railway Station.
