NEW WHAU.
The crushing for this company at the Alburnia mill continues to shape payably. The mine manager, writing under .Satur* day's date, reports as follows:—"The reef in the 160 feet level has been ,broke£^ out for a distance of 75 feet from tlur Alburnia boundary, and has not proved.. payable, however a favorable change in footwall took place last night, which would lead me to expect better results in a few days. The quartz crushed during the week is principally from stopes started ' 20 feet above the drive, and is giving a fair return of amalgam. I would suggest that you give instruction* to proceed with the intermediate level, the block being too deep to work out with one drive, and we would by an intermediate level be able to start stoping on a part of the reef which there is every indication that it would give good returns." ,'.•/
