Obituary.

It is oar sad lot to chronicle the demise of Mr Bobert Kelly of the Pariri Springs, which took place on Saturday afternoon at Puriri. 1 Deceased and his brother-in-law, Mr Thomas Fenton, were out pheasant shooting. Without any warning Mr Kelly exclaimed, "Oh Tom I" and dropped stone dead with his gun tightly clutched in his hand. From some time previous to this sad occurrence deceased was attended to by Dr Payne for heart disease, and that gentleman informed his relatives that the malady might terminate fatally at any moment. Outwardly he appeared in excellent health, and his relatives hoped' that .he might be long spared to them. Tb# deceased was only 45, and leaves a widow to mourn his loss. Mr Kelly arrived in Victoria in 1851, came over to the Otago Goldfield in 1862, and was a successful pioneer of the Thames and Coromandel goldfields. About three years ago he abandoned mining ventures, and with his brother-in-law, Mr E. Fraser, started business at Puriri, aerating and bottling the water from the Puriri mineral springs, which were their property. The funeral of the deceased gentleman left Mr Charles Stephenson's residence, Pollen street, this afternoon,, and was largely attended. Out of respect for deceased, the offices of the Thames Stock; Exchange were closed during the afternoon.
