CALEDONIAN.

The work of erecting the new brace and poppets is proceeding apace, and the improvements will be finished in about a fortnight's time./ The poppets are double the height of the old ones, and are very strong, the legs being made of squared timber. The brace is being erected at the same height from the ground as the old pulleys, so it will be one of the highest on the field. In the mine good progress is being made with the winze connecting the two levels near the Otago boundary. At the No. 3 level a party of me&are putting in a prospecting drive on a small leader three or four inches thick. There is a good class of country.
