THIS DAT.
HAURA_-I DISTBICT. (Before H. Kenrick, Esq., R.M. (Chairman), and Messrs Souter, Browne, and Workman.) The Bench speaking on the question of fees decided that the amount of each would be the same as last year, with the exception of the Hape Creek Hotel, which being near town would be charged at town rate. Mr Brassey asked to make an application on behalf of Mr Ehrenfried, the owner of the City of Glasgow hotel. Mr Ehrenfried. had lately bought the freehold and if the Bench decided on closing the establishment he would Buffer great loss in consequence. The police report on the house was good, and k he wished to kaoir
if the Bench would visit, tho house and see for themselves. The Chairman said lluu the application could not be entertained, as it was the Hauraki Licensing Court which was sitting and not the Than-.es. If Mr Brassey wished to make the application he must do bo on the 12th June. As for visiting the house, he declined to do so, and he thought his colleagues would do the same, as it was no part of the .duty of the Licensing Bench to make inspection of public-houses. The application could not be allowed. The Court then rose.
