RIFLE RANGERS.

The usual monthly inspection of the Thames Rifle Rangers was held last evening in the Volunteer Hall. Major Murray, the inspecting officer, was received with the regulation salute. He made a careful inspection of the arms and accoutrements, and expressed himself satisfied with his examination. The drum and fife band, under bandmaster Kelsall, performed some excellent selections. Afterwards the Major said that he considered a drum and fife band was more adapted to marching than a brass band. He presented a number of prizes which the members of the corps had won in rifle competition. After this ceremony had been gone through, the company|tnarched to Shortland, and afterwards returned to the hall, when several new members were enrolled.
