Ohinemuri Road Works.

Tho progress of work is principally between Ohinemuri and Katikali. The contractor for the bridges is now sawing the timber and making preparations for their erection, which will be commenced

at once

The contractors for the sections of the Katikati road between the old Tauranga crossing and Owharoa, have started eight men on the contract.

The Government drains are now being cut through a portion of the Te Arolia block, and prove the soil to be of a better quality than any one had anticipated, and show a considerable depth of swamp soil, underlaid by a substratum of clay, before reaching the pumice sand that underlies the whole country in that neighbourhood.

The contractors for metalling the main Ohinemuri road between Barikiri and Puriri have made considerable advances considering the unsatisfactory weather they have*had to contend with, and the contractor for raising the road where it passes through the swamp has made a fair start.

The employees of the County Council are now engaged in taking levels on the Te Aroha road at Ko'okuhu «ith a view of calling for tenders at an early dale for work necessary.for the completion of the road.
