Arrival of the Railway Commissioners.

The gentlenn 1 comprising the Ba'.lway Commission arrived yesterday afternoon by tbj s.B. Hiaemoa from. New Plymouth, their last pjrt of depart? c. The Commission is composed a« follows: —Mr Oswald Cu'rt'.s. (chairmau), Nelson ; Mr Reid, Otago; Mv E. Wrgnt, Canterbury; Mr I?ear<.:e, Welliag;:on; and Mr J. M. Clark, Auckland. All these gentlemen arrived yesterday, except Mr Eeid, who is at present detailed in Otago turough contesting the Waitaki seat in the Assembly, vacant by

the resignation of Mr Ilislop. Mr E. Downey is secretary to the Commission, and Mr William Mitchell, shorthandwriter. The Commissioners will meet today. In the forenoon they wilL receive a deputation, consisting of Mr E. Hamlin and Major Harris, M.H.E.'s for Franklin, and other gentlemen, relative to the proposed branch railway from Pukekohe to Waiuku, and iv the afternoon the chairman of the Harbour Board (Captain D. H. McKenzie) and Captain Daldy will wait on the Commissions as a deputation from, the Board relative to the harbour reclamation. Nothing has been definitely fixed yet as to the future progress of operations, but in all likelihood it will be settled today.—Herald.
