Burglary at Pokeno.
The Railway Station 'Bobbed. A daring burglary was committed last night at the Pokeno railway station, telegraph, and post-office. When the station master, Mr Edwards, went to the office shortly after six o'clock this morning, he found that the large pane of glass upon which the words, " Post and Telegraph Office" were printed had been broken, and, on going inside, the office bore marks of hav ing been ransacked. UnforlunatelT, the station-master had left the keys Oi tbe safe in the iron chest, so that the thief or thieves had no difficulty in removing a sum of about £10, which had been left in it on the previous night. It is supposed that some jewellery had also been left in the safe. A desk, which contained a considerable suji of money, was left on a eaair, but this was not touched by the burgl?.. 1. -The matter has been reported to the police, who are investing.—is'a ■.
