The Commission on Local Industries.
The arrangements of the above commission were altered through the non departure of the Rotomahana last night. By the Enterprise, which arrived here early this morning, Mr Burns, one of the Commissioners, arrived. The other members are not able to come, so Mr Burns will take all the x evidence himself, and will report thereon. Mr Brodie (County Chairman) met the Commissioner this morning, and introduced him to Messrs Comer, Walker, and James, who accompanied him orer the different mines. In the course of the inspection the parly visited the Mor.natairi- tunnel, the Reuben Parr, Alburnia, and Kuranui mines, and the Big Pump. Although the time of the Commissioner is so short, we have no doubt that the Thames Will be justly dealt with. For knowledge of mining, Mr Burns has few equals, and we may safely trust cur case in his hands. Mr Burns leaves for Auckland to-morrow, and has intimated his willingness to take evidence all night if necessary.
