A Vessel Ashore.
The Secretary to the Marine Depart ■ ment received a telegram from Havelock announcing that the ketch Forest Queen from Wellington to Waitara, with railway iron and carriages struck oar the inner rock off Jackson's Head on Thursday night. She is now beached in Guard's Passage, and can be saved if immediate assistance is obtained, Her master brought the news to Havelock and returned to the wreck. The Forest Queen is owned by Capt. Mclntyre of Wellington, and insured in the New Zealand Co., for £650, of which £250 is reinsured by all offices. Her value is about £1000. The insurance offices are, arranging to send a steamer from here.
Capt. Bendall, Secretary to the Under* writers Association, leaves for the Forest Queen by the Charles Edward this evening. The brigantine Isabella has also been chartered to proceed to the scene of the mishap.
