ALBURNIA.
Another stoppage of the battery took place to-day, through the dearth of water, but the manager expected to start again to-night. At the mine there is no important change to mention. Since driving was started on the hanging wall vein in 70 feet level, a distance of 70 or 80 feet has been put in through good country, though the-ground in the face is tighter. The leader frequently shows good gold, and yields specimen stone occasionally. This leader has never been worked in any of the upper levels, and is probably intact to the surface. The stoping now in progress will prove the value of the reef upwards. In the eastern 70 feet level Sons of Freedom stopes the lode is of good thickness, and yields remunerative dirt. Towards the New North Devon boundary prospects are favorable and good stone comes to hand occasionally. Mr Eadford intends to prove the reef below this level by driving' from the No. 1 winze to the main pass. The^ footwall leader continues to produce remunerative.crushiug stuff.
