CALEDONIAN SHAFT.

Though no measurements were made of the water in the pumping shaft last week it has been ascertained that the top of the water is at least down to the Caledonian No. 3 level, which corresponds with a point about 274 feet down the Big Pump shaft. The back of the level has been reached, but it will take some days to empty the drives and workings of the level, which are extensive. It is probable the Kuraaui Hill will commence operations from this level in a few days.
