NEW WHAU.
During yesterday afternoon about 301bs of picked stone was taken from the last shot in the winze, leaving gold well distributed through the reef. More picked stoic would be obtained if it were not from the fact that dynamite is used in blasting which considerably shatters the stone, rendering the collection of the smaller pieces of picked stone impossible. The manager reports at one o'clock to-day, 151b of picked stone this morning and more will be got in the afternoon, indeed picked stone is got every shot, and there are indications that specimens are near at hand. Easter and party's contract for driving is now almost completed.
