NEW WHAU TENDERS.
To the Editor of the Evening Swe,
Sir, —I see in your paper to-night that the mine manager of the Whau claim in his report says that he recently called for tenders for constructing a pass, but only one was sent in, and the price wanted being, he considered, too high, he let the work by wages men. Now, Sir, I should like to know how Mr Daykin called for tenders; I look through the notices in your paper every night in the hopes of getting a job, but «aw nothing of it, or I should undoubtedly hare had a try for it. I think if due publicity were given to notices of this kind, cases of only one tender being in for a job when so many men are out of work would soon com* to an end.—l am— In Want op a Job. [The advertisement was, we beliere inserted in our morning contemporary only. The fact that the Chairman of Directors is proprietor of that paper is perhaps^ sufficient answer to our corres* pomlent's query.—Ed. Stab.]
