A vessel named George Arcle, bound for the colonies, went ashore near Soura« bay, but afterwards floated unassisted.
A deputation of workmen was received today by the' Hon. J. Serfice, when threatening language wos^ used. They asked for remunerative employment, and declined to accept stone-breaking. The Hon. Mr Service replied, that everything possible had been done, and he was unable to do more. ' Melboubne, This day. Mr Thompson Moore, member for Mandurang, has accepted the position of Government whip in the Assembly. The prospectus has been issued of the Meat Freezing Company under the dry process with a capital of £100,000., The sum of £40,000 has already been subscribed, and. the company will commence operations as soon as subscriptions amount to £50,000. Adelaide, Friday. Adelaide wheat, 4s 2d to 4s 3d per bushel; Adelaide flour, £10 0s 10d per !ton; market depressed. Freight from Adelaide to London, 40s to 42s 6d, depressed. Sydney, Friday. Hennessy's brandy, bulk quarters, 11s 3d to lls b'd ; raven twist tobacco, Is 4d and Is 2d per lb ; candles, No. 1, 6yd to 7£d.
An influential meeting was held to-day at which it was resolved to form a Meat Export Company.
