QUEEN OF BEAUTY.

Men were employed to-day making an excavation near the winding engine for the steam capstan. The power for the capstan will be supplied from the boilers that supply the winding engine, and the old Piako rope will be used. The tarbine and its appurtenances will be ready for a trial start in a day or two. Good progress is being made with the fixing of the pumping column.
