A charge of pulpit plagiarism has been brought against the Rex. Dr Lorimer, pastor of the first Baptist Church in Chicago. It seems that on Sunday, the 12th of October, Dr Lorimer preached in his church a sermon which was greatly admired by his congregation, from Matt, xii., 6, " In this place is One greater than the Temple." It was discovered that the Trans Atlantic divine bad followed with remarkable fidelity one of Dr Parker's discourses preached at the London City Temple on Michaelmas Day of the previous year. Soon afterwards copious extracts from the sermon were published in the Chicago Daily News, side by side with parallel extracts from the originals. The First Church pastor, being interviewed by a reporter from that paper, attributed the resemblance to a "phenomenal memory," and said he "did not believe the scandal would hurt Dr Lorimer a bit."
