Juvenile Crime.
The system of education in Victoria is secular. A perfect epidemic of juvenile crime (says the Melbourne Age) aeems < to be, visiting Stawell just now. The Police court has seen juvenile utterers of base coin, ju?enile shop-lifters and juvenile offenders against decency brought up and dealt with, but a juvenile female highway robber is a still greater novelty. A few days ago a little girl about six years, of age, was returning from school when she was accosted by one of less than twice that age, who made her sit down while she took off her shoes and then appro* priated them. She was attempting to take off the child's dress when she was disturbed, and made off with the shoes. The Police were communicated with, and after some trouble the missing articles traced. The purloiness had taken them to her mother and stated that she picked them up in the street, wrapped in brown paper. Considering her tender years, no action was taken.
