The English Elections.
London, April 1. The elections are occasioning profound surprise. There is heavy voting on the part of the working classes. The Liberals promise not to disturb the Foreign policy of the country, though it is evident that if they obtain a large (majority they will attempt conjointly with other powers* coercion on Turkey. -
Upon the results of the election to far being known, stocks have fallen.
April 6th.
The question of the foreign policy hag been regarded as a muoh smaller issue by the electors generally than question! of trade and finance, and there has also been a desire to give the Liberals an innings.
The majority of the Liberals who supported the foreign policy of the Government have been re-elected.
Batonm, on the eastern shore of the Black Sea, and now belonging to Bussia, has been re-converted into a strong fortress.
There are terrible consular report! from Anatolia, where the; population an dying from starvation, oaused partly through misrule.
