ALBURNIA.

This mine was visited to-day-by., the directors, Messrs T. and J. Maeffarlane, and Mr Patterson. Mr Eadford explained fully the prospects of eaoh portion of the workings visited, and the mode of operation, and the directors expressed themselves satisfied with all they taw. On the floor of the 7u feet leTel, west drive, about 20 feet back from the Whau boundary, the manager had a shot fired, which produced several blocks of heavily mineralised stone, showing good dabs of gold in pieces. In the iatermediata level work is in rapid progress. In the western end the lode was somewhat split up, and the workings for a few feet had consequently to be carried to a oonsiderable width. To-day the lode appears t« be

consolidating on the left hand side of the drive, which may be taken at a satisfactory indication. In the eastern end there is nothing particular to mention. It is now considered as pretty certain that the downward continuation of the rich specimen ran lies between this drive and the floor of the 70 feet level. At the 160 feet level there is nothing fresh of moment* In the drive east the reef is somewhat jumbled, but shows a little gold. On Thursday next the manager will let a contract for driving 100 feet on the Sons of Freedom level.
