Mining Accident.

A serious accident happened to a tributer named Henry Picket, working in the Alburnia mine, to-day. It appears that 'on Saturday the manager noticed that the ground near the "jump up " at the Whau level was unsafe, and pointed it out. This morning Picket proceeded to the spot to secure the dangerous portion by placing a set of timber. While cutting the mullock some quartz fell, and Picket stooped to inspect it. While so engaged a large block of stuff fell from the roof, striking him on the small of the back, and completely disabling him. He was conveyed to the Hospital immediately where he was examined by the House Surgeon. We believe it is feared the injuries are internal.
