Fbom the special meeting of the Borough Council this morning, a detailed report of which appears • elsewhere, it is evident that the city fathers hare lost that bond of union and harmony which is the very essence of good and efficient government. The water supply question has frequently been the apple of discord, and again it gives occasion for an unseemly " misunderstanding." The pros and cons of the squabble it is not here our intention to discuss, but it is our desire simply to point out that such exhibitions as that witnessed this morning tend to bring the chosen of the burgesses into contempt and lessen their power for good. The querulous impertinence of a certain member—not Or Speight, who we must say delivered his remarks without any show of feeling A to His Worship the Mayor was not admissable, no matter how greatly that functionary erred. An insult to the occupant of. the Mayoral Chair is a direct affront to the burgesses of the Municipality who placed him in that position.
