This day, A Defaulter Arrested,

Detective ICirby made a very smart arrest to-day of one Henry Thomas Head, who has been wanted since last October. He was Setretary to the Warrnambpol

Building Society in Victoria. Bead since that date has paid a visit to England, and arrived here about four months ago, and up to within a few days since was librarian to the Timaru Mechanic's Institute.

Henry Thomas Bead, ex Librarian of the Timaru Mechanics' Institute, was remanded to gaol to await transfer to Victoria on a charge of embezzling the funds of the Building Society at Warrnambool, where he was Town Clerk. His identity was fully proved by a Constable from Warrnambool. Bail was refused. *
