NELSON.
."... This day.. The Representatives at Kelson,
A large Church parade was held yesterday of the City and Country companies of volunteers.
An old Maori died at Wakuaka, who was said to be one hundred and ten years old, and to have been the priginal chief of the ■ district, but lost his possessions by conquest. First Match this Afternoon. Eifle Camp, 12.50 p.m. This raoruing all the members of the Eifle Association arrived in camp about ten o'clock, and the time has been occupied in the men getting into their quarters. At two o'clock they will parade, and at 3.30 the first match will be commenced. The arrangements for firing are completed, the ranges being almost the same as last year, but it is probable a longer time will be taken in marking shots, on account of altering the butts, with a view of increasing the protection for the markers.
Col. Packe is in command, Major Lean is Camp Adjutant, whilst Captain Webb is acting as Secretary, Mr Stevens being unable to attend.
