AUCKLAND.
Last night.
The Timaru Herald having refused to apologize for the statements made respecting the condition of the birque Glimpse, Capt. Norris of this port has determined to proceed with the action for libel.
Mr J. T. McKelvie, an old Auckland colonist has sent to the Auckland Museum by the Loch Urr from London, a collection of Maori curiosities which had been in England for more than 30 years, also a large collection of silver and copper coins, and twenty curious medals.
At a meeting of the Pastoral Association, resolutions were passed requesting the Government to trace out and purchase the. cattle recently imported from Aus tralia in order to destroy them, and thus stamp out the disease. The Government are also urged to quarantine the cattle expected by the Hero from Sydney, and also some expected shortly from Queensland.
