NEW PLYMOUTH.
Last night
The monthly meeting at* Parihaka was held . yesterday. Little -interest was manifested by the ■ natives, and only a very small gathering, not above 300 in i}ll. Several load.B of apples were aclded to the customary feast, which was indulged in as usual: There were 9 Europeans present. Te Whiti did not manifest any desire to display Bis powers of oratory, contenting himself with a very (fhort address ot little or no significance beyond the ordinary exhortations to his people. He advised his followers not to be alarmed at the course of events, but in his speech he did not allude to the advance qf tup Armed Ponstabulary qn tfye Plains, nor to the Hatire Commission at Oeo.
The report that Te Whiti asked the Native Commissioner to coweto Parihaka was quite unibuuded, as Neither he nor any of his people are^likely to take any jjotioe of fcl^e lii'oceodiiigs qf the Commissioner.
