In consequence of the rearrangement of the San Francisco mail service the March mail steamer will leave Frisco on Saturday, 13th pros', instead of Monday, 15th. as announced in the time table, arming at Auckland on Monday, the sth of April, iustead of Wednesday,-17th. The incoming mail, leafing Frisco on 16th in>t., will run according to former arrangement.
The Government have completed the necessary arrangements for bringing into operation the Registration of Electors Act, passed last session. ■-
It is understood that the Government intend taking prompt and decisive action regarding the proceeding of the French Government in chartering a schooner to convey a batch of French convicts to Auckland from New Caledonia, whose terms of penal servitude had expired. [Rumors are current here that largo reductions are about to be made in the Bailway Department. The Suez mails left Melbourne yesterday by the Tararua, and are a supplement tary batch forwarded by, P. and O. steamer Deccan, which left Southampton 27th December, and Suez 3rd January. She arrived at Melbourne on Friday last.
The Governments of New Zealand and New South Wales have succeeded in effecting a very satisfactory re-arrange-ment of the San Francisco mail service, by which the time of transit between England and New -Zealand will be shortened by at least two days
