A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION.
(To the Editor of the BVBKIKO Stab.) Sib,—*l «cc in the report of the meeting of the Borough Council in your morning contemporary the Foreman- of Works stated that Messrs O'Brien and Thompson' did not tar the box-drain which they laid down in Richmond street. Now, sir, if tar is a preventative from decay, the Ifore* man of Works, with all his daily em* < ployees, .has hitherto neglected tarring those places in his timber works, whion required it most, viz., the ends of the planking where they abut together on their sleepers, also the joints in thfr frames of culverts and water-tables where two pieces of timber lie together and are most likely'to retain damp. Oh vanity! even the application of tar .has been sought to polish off yonr wonderful power of economy and self«praised ability. —I am, <fee, A BuHftßts.
