" Having experienced the advantnges derived from inhalations of the Exthact EUCALYPTI E Fotil in oases of echinococoen of the lungs with bronchial afi'eotions, I rondo up my mind to try the same remedy in cases of DIPTHEEIA. Dr Salenz, a pupil of mine, has siuce, in his deaertations, reported the particulars of the cases treated, and I may be allowed briefly to refer to one of the cases enumerated therein.
Ida X., of Pneewalb, twenty ypars of age, h»d on the 19th February, 1879, a fit of chilling /ever with violent pains in the throat. She colled upon a me(?ic«l piaetitiorer, who, recognizirg at onca the case to be one of diphtherilis, mm!e her enter my lilinik, where I had to separate her from tho other patients. Tbe pa.ient, well developed f>r her iige, was complaining of pnins in the throat, which «»rew worse when she endeavored to swallow, epeak, or move the inbk. Tho snbmuxillar and Rubmental glands were much swollen, and ihii fever was of v .remitting nature. The ebc&ition of the patient wan on the 22nd of Frbruary :—Warsritb "^SO^ C., pulse = 86, respiration = 20. Preeerip'ion : Extract euo. c. ioliis to bo inhaled for twenty minutes every hour. The following dny the patient threw out small 'particles of ex>'udufc The local appearances in the pharynx grew -worse, and the exeudats were mo.o extended over the mucous membrane. That increase of symptoms caused me to augment the doss to one teaspoonful of extract euc. used for inhalation ; also Ihe inhalations were continued during the night. On the 27th patient got better and the fever had subsided. On examining the pharynx it was easily to be noticed that the diptheritis gave way, and on the 11th of March the patient was restored and discharged. The report in question says that the Eucalypti Extract in all cases of diptheritis proved successful; it also sets forth cases of laryngitis and bronchitis chronics-, pneumonia, crouposa dextra, ncute ■ pharyngitis, combined with laryngitis, treated successfully with Eucalypti Extract. (Those-diseases constitule nearly ail the affections of the throat, and reppira ory organß, mostly caused by neglected colds.) The above reported cure of diptheri^, a disease which is always attended by fever, proves the efficacy of our Extract Eucalyptus in all caaes of fever, and as it at the same time disinfeois all wounds, and checks inflammation, it will be » positive cure of nearly all diseases, cbi.fly Fevers, Rheumatism, Cold*, Wounds of all kinds, Sprains, Bruucs, Etc.
