Feacable Intentions Announced.
A Present of Food.
The Constabulary are hard at work forming tho road from the camp at Kuipi towards Tauhi, and the natives who have kept-aloof until to day came into camp about 40 in number, mostly men, with two drays and a spring cart loaded with 30 kits of potatoes, 1 kit of peaches, 4 geese, 2 pigs and 7 fowls, which was presented to the camp by Nga'iakahuihui who acted as spokesman. He briefly said, this is a present from us to Col. Roberts and all his Europeans here assembled.
Col. Roberts briefly thanked them, and the band ordered out to entertain the visitors. Besides Ng#ti, the principal natives present were Pukia Karewa and Nuku, a half brother of Titokowaru. It is belived that the present was made by orders of Te Whiti, who teaches them "If the enemy hunger feed him."
