Thames Harbor Board.

A meeting of the Thames Harbor Board was held this morning. PresentMessrs Brown, the Mayor, Head, and Bagnall. The meeting was held re the Shorlland channel improvements, and the following letter was read from Captain Dalton : — " Grahamstown, 25th January, 1880. " Sib, —As I leave Shortland at 6 a.m. to-morrow morning, I shall be unable to attend the meeting of the Harbor Board. I consider the channel, as used the last 20 pears to my knowledge, should be adhered to. I believe it would be a great mistake to cut a straight channel, and I think it should be allowed to run the same course as before the last fresh.—l am, &c. Henby Dalton, Mastnr p.s. Te Aroha —F. C. Dean, Ksq, Sec.- Thames Harbor Board." The Committee proceeded with the Harbour Master to view the proposed channel and the obstruction to the present one. _^
