WELLINGTON.
This day. Regatta. The Outrigger ltace was rowed to day between Wellington and Wangauui. Tlie former won by thirty lengths. A largo sperm whalu was washed aihoro in the harbour this morning. The Volunteer whaleboat race this morning was most exciting. It was won Ly the Wanganui Firo Brigade, having a Lad of about half a length of the Wellington Naval Brigade, which they maintained throughout. It was the most interesting race ever witnessed here. Wellington beat Wauganui ia the inrigger race by four lengths.! A young man named Frederick Buckley was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment for playing under and over in a public place. Several others were detained in custody on suspicion of having false dice, etc., in their possession.
