Yesterday,
Tho Herald lias received a cablegram from the I?ev. Shirley Baker, from Sydney, stating that .. the German man-o'-vvar will be specially sent to Auckland to convey the body of the late Grown Prince of Tonga to the Friendly Islands. A Fatal Accident.
The steward of the Lilla liookh, named Thomas Joseph Smith, fell overboard at midnight, from the staging at the Onehunga wharf, while' getting water. Mis head was split open by striking the piles of the wharf. He was a steady, sober roan, and leaves a ffife and family at Mangere. He only joined the Pride of Oaehunga Court of Foresters on Monday night.
A boat accident occurred at Whangaroa harbor by which Elinghan, engineer, and Hewit, fireman, nearly lost their lives. Their boat was capsized through climbing the mast to clear the halliards, and after floating about for some time they were rescued by Mr Bannatyne, who put off iv his boat.
