ANOTHER OPINION.
(To the Editor of the Eraning Star.)
Sib,—ln your^issue of the 7th inst. I again see an effusion from the pen (?) of the great McMahon of Tapu, Hastings, attacking the County Council officials. Now I and many others think it only right that the public and that much censured body should know that (with the exception of a sorry few) the inhabitants of Tapu disclaim the cham pionship of the mighty Michael, being perfectly aware that that individual would^eare but little to ventilate the grievances of ratepayers did it not serve his purpose to have a slap at some of his particular friends. With regard to that portion of his complaint, viz., the Hastings aud Mercury Bay Koad, I can only say that a three-horse dray containing 7000 shingles each loud has been travelling the
road from end to end during the past week, and the only complaints about the road are those parts where the culverts were placed by McMahon and Bennett after Hawkes' contract was finished.-Mr McMahon during the last few months seems to have taken a deal of trouble in matters connected with Tapu for which, MriEditor, I assure you he receives but scant thanks.—l am, &c,
Rodney. Tapu, Hastings, Jan. 12th, 1880.
