This day. The general entries for the Wellington races close on Monday night. At the District Court, ia the case of Mears v. Beat for, £200 alleged to Lave been fraudulently appropriated, His Honor said no doubt the defendant was guilty of fraud and breach of trust, and the whole transaction, as far as defendant was concerned, was anything but straightforward, and would not redound to his credit. Judgment was given tor £104. Frank Hook, lately of the Pantomime, and formerly of Christchurch, was arrested to-day 011 a charge of obtaining £50 from Thomas John Gleir by moans of false pretences.
