At the Supreme Court, in the case of Flatt v. Moody and Smith, claiming £1000, for breach of contract, a verdict was given for £920. The plaintiff will duly rank as a creditor in the estate. \ Yesterday. Land Purchase Depwtmeat. A notification of the reliuquishment by Her Majeaty of negotiations for the purchase of certain native lands in the North Island appears iv the Gazette. The treaty of friendship between Great Britain and Tonga also appears in the Gazette. Colonel Wbitmore has been appointed colonel to the New Zealand Regiment of Artillery. Horace Baker has been appointed Corn* missioner of Crown Lands for the land district of Haw ke'a Bay. The following return of the quantity and value of gold entered for exportation for the year ending 31st December 1879 is published : — Auckland 37,90 lozs, £154.295; Ficton, 87?ozs, £3,460; Nelson, 48510z5, £18,648; Westport, 18,1200zs £72,482.
