South Ward Election.

As the hour of closing drew near je»terday afternoon, some interest seemed to be taken by the candidates and their friends, and the result showed how necessary it was that no rote should be lost. The votes polled were 261 out of a possible 287, so that very few ratepayers were allowed to pass without recording their votes. The result as stated by Mr Davies, Returning Officer, gave Mr Wilkinson 96, Mr Wilson 95, and Mr Leydon 63. Mr Wilkinson returned thanks for his election, and Mr Leydon followed suit, concluding by calling for cheers for the successful candidate and the Returning I Officer. \ •
