Thames Harbour Board Election.
The election of a member of the Harbour Board to fill an extraordinary vacancy was held »t noon to-day at the Borough Council Chambers. Mr Robert Comer was voted to the Chair, and after reading the advertisement calling the meeting, called for nominations.
Mr McGowan proposed. and Mr Bead seconded Mr Robert Graham.
Mr Renshaw proposed ,Mr W. McCullough, but thc> gentleman immediately declined to stand, especially to contest the seat with the gentleman already nominated. Mr Hogg nominated Mr Wm. Wilkinson, and Mr Carpenter seconded.
Mr McGowan raised the question whether the proposer and seconder of Mr Wilkinson had his authority for nominating him. Mr Hogg stated he believed Mr Wilkinson would consent. ' *
Mr Wilkinson then came into the room, and the matter being explained to him, and the desire of the Shortland people to be represented on the Board, he consented to the nomination.
No other penons being nominated, the Chairman called for a show of hands, which resulted in 28 for Mr Graham, and 11 for Mr Wilkinson.
