This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in tho Waitnate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on fche most favorable terms arid conditions, with a view of supplyiag to some extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for loan fide settlement. As soon as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to he agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed"Association in; selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) storling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors.will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by bonh Jide. settlers and subscribers without necessitating .strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational,, recreation, and public- health purposes, as suggested by tho Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some ■well-defined, liberal, and easily-uudcrstood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of the total value of the share of land he applies for before his application can be entertained, and' a further payment of two -percentutn per month on said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Association,'and possession can bo given to applicant!, or until such time as the Association ■hall make arrangements with the Government for allotting laud to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further ptriod than'six months from date of application.. All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of Hew Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed .deposit bearing intertst, and no withdrawals or -payments to be made by cheque against such account without the authority, and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association will also bo appointed in all the centres of population throughbulsthe provincial district as soon as practicable. As soon aa, in the opinion of the Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares . are applied for, a general* meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpole of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or article? of Association A or the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Bourd of and Management.
