Something new in connection with insolvency matters has just como to light. In the estate of James Black a verdict obtained by the trustee against the sheriff and others having" been reversed on technical grounds, the costs of the plaintiff and defendant hare to be paid out of the estate and after paying the preferential claims and the dividend of ten shillings in the £, there remains now but £528 4s lOd, and the law expenses amount to £717 10s lid,,leaving a deficiency of £189 6» Id* to. meet which a call of half a crown has been made upon all the solvent debtors whose claimß amounted to £1535 5s Bd.
Annual prize firing meeting of the Otago Rifle Association commenced today. In the Ist match, ranges 400 and 6CO yards, the first prize fell to A. Anderson, of Ciutba, with a.score of 67.
