The Government have received the welcome intelligence that the loan has been floated successfully and taken up twice over, showing the continued continued confidence of the English money market in the prosperity of the colony, and the ability of its resources to cope with the demands of the public creditor. The loan agents, it would appear, hare giren a guarantee that no fresh borrowing will take place for three years, so that Public Works now in progress, that bare not their construction guaranteed out of the present loan, will stand a poor show of being completed for several years.
The Scottish Battalion, Cadets, and the Bifle Hangers are notified to assemble tomorrow morning for Church Parade.

The Hauraki Engineers were inspected bj Major Murray last night; the condition of the arms and nccoutrementi was satisfactory. A meeting was afterwards held for the election of officers. The rballot having been taken, Meisrs GK McCaui and Jno. Leydon were unaaimoinly elected second "Lieutenants. The candidates for the second Captaincy were Lieutenants Barlow and Denby. The ballot for this position was deferred until next week. The Band and Company parade at five o'clock this afternoon for battalion drill with the other Grahamstown companies.

A visit to their establishments will no doubt amply repay the time and trouble and besides effect a saving of money.
