INVERCARGILL.
Last night.
Most encouraging news is to hand from Loiigwood. Mr Priutz, proprietor of a claim there, arrived in town this evening, and brought with him some of the gold taken out of the rich spot struck recently. The gold turned the scales at 2ilbi. Allowing for the saud mixfd with the gold there must have been 19ozs of clean me t a l—fcbis being the produce of two tin dishes taken from the reef. The gold was followed upwards two feet above the roof of the drive, and looked even richer than where first struck. About 130 feet from the face of the tunnel, three other shots of gold were passed through. These were not go rich, but were payable. The lode varies in thickuess from one to two feet. The wulls are highly oxidised, and dip eastward at about one in six. The tunnel's total length is about 530 .feet. Another party of iaeu working half a mile from PrinU's claim are reported to be doing well.
