Saturday night, Albert Pinkston, Secretary of the Chris tchurch Chess, Club, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with indecently assaulting two little girls under 12 years of age. The Inspector of Pojipe said there were other pharges of a similar nature to be brought against the aopuied, and asked for a remand until Monday* which was granted. The Canterbury Jockey Club, at their half yearly meeting hold this afternoon carried Stead's uotiou ptereatiug any

trainers from engaging a lad or other stable servant without previously referring to hi 3 last employers and receiving a satisfactory reply in writing. Any trainer infringing this rule, and continuing to employ such a boy after notice shall be served on him by the Secrefary of the Jockey Club shall not be allowed to train or run horses where the Jockey Club's rules are in force. Any boy prevented from obtaining employment shall have the right of appeal to the Committee of the Christehurch Jockey Club or tbo Stewards of any race meeting run under the Club rules.

The City Guards company of volunteers are going to hare a sterling silver challenge shoulder belt to bo competed for at five distances by members of that company.
