Last night. The Itotomahana sails at 9 a.m. tomorrow for the South. The German war ship Nautilus, from Sydney, sails for Samoa tomorrow.

Arrived: Fernglen ship, 101 days from London, with 167 passengers, all well. The schooner Estelle, for Kuipara, loads timber for Southern ports. The Carandini Company arrived by the Rotomahana, namely, Madame Carandini, Miss Maria Carandini, who will make her first appearance in Auckland, also Miss Josephine Deakin, Mr Wnlter Sherwin and Mr H. Gordon Goocli. The company will appear in a scries of instrumental and musical concerts.

The following members of the Auckland Battery of Artillery have been selected to contest the friendly carbine match with representative team from H.M.S. Cormorant, viz :—Captain Payne, Gunners W. Hose, Woolley, Bell, Tichcner, Hendor. son, Kearns, H. Bose, Scotter, and Trayes. Emergency men: Sergeant Ansell, and Gunners Cooper and Salmon. The men of the Cormorant are armed with the Martini-Henry rifle, while the Artillery will contest with, the Snider carbine. The match, takes place on Saturday. . " - At the Wesleyan district meeting the church property was reported as worth £23,462, and the expenditure £1050.

News from the Norfolk Island to Ist inst. states :—Several American whalers had called for supplies, having met with fair success. The whaling season at the Island was successful, and whales plentiful. The health of Islanders is good.

At 9 o'clock this evening an outbreak of fire was discovered by Constable K. E. Jones on the premises of L. D. Nathan and Co., Shortland street. It appeared to have originated in the cellar in some sawdust over which some champagne bottles wrapped in paper were stacked. Some of the paper was burnt, and one hogshead of whiskey was scorched, but the fire was suppressed before it got headway. The store was filled with an enormous stock of wines, spirits, champagne, &c, so that it was fortunate the fire was detected at so early a stage. The origin is unknown.
