Failed : Penguin for the South. Passengers : Wellington—Messrs. E. Gain, Stodarfc, Mr and Mrs Buchanan and 3 children, Jas. Bawney. For Lyltelton— Miss Nolan, Messrs. Bint<r, Buckley, Bradly, Kearney, Owen, Jones. For Dunedin -Messrs Irwin, T. Johnson, W. McLaughan. Mr John Tole, father of Mr J. A. Tole. M.H.E., died, aged 72.
At a Crown land sale to dny there was a fair attendance, nnd keen competition For lots situated in tbe suburbs of Opoliki. A good advance on the upset price was obtained, bat the remainder of the sale was devoid of interest.
An old fisherman named Frederick Coverley is missing from Waiuku. His boat was found. Be is believed to be drowned.
Kewi's wife and child have come in to Alexandra, and remain a few days as guests of Major Mair. Betvi then proceeds to Te Kuiti, where his people wish him to remain and recover his strength. Judging from his appearance, this will most likely be his last visit to any European settlement.
