Arrived : Anazi, from London ; barque Mildred, from Newcastle; ketch Wild Duck, from Napier. The schooner Prosperity is loading at Kopuru mills for Hokitika.
At Ngaruwhia, the natives are working afresh an abandoned gumfield. Supplies of the castor oil bean have been supplied to the natives of Raglan, Aotea, and Kawhia, to induce them to engage in the above industry, by an Auckland oil company.
The Cargo Broaching Case. Stephen Boreham, Harry Retchukel, John Sherry, William Jacobson, and Godfrey Gabrielson were charged at the Police Court with stealing a quantity of champagne, brandy, and French plums, the property of James Hill, master of the British barque Anazi, by broaching cargo, on the 21st November. Sub-Inspector Pardy, in asking for a remand, said that the barque Anuzi arrived in the harbor that morning. It was known that the men had broached cargo. There was powder stored on board, and it was providential that the ship was not des-. troyed. The prisoners were remanded until December 1st.
