Afc the Flower Show in the evening there was a very large attendance, the exhibits being very much admired. The Chair was taken by the Mayor elect, Mr L. Ehreufricd, who delivered a short address, as also did the Her. Mr Haishley, and Dr. KHgour. The report was adop'ed by acclamation, and those present amused theraselres with small chat, and in listening to the strains of the Scottish hand, until about 9 o'clock, when Mr R.R. McGregor mounted a rostrum and proceeded to sell the exhibits aud unallotted prizes by auction. Many of the bouquets realised quite fancy pric-s, and £11 was the rosult of the sale. Another means of " raising the wind " was a little toy engineered by Mr Grey, which was the means of augmenting the funds of the society by £l 3s Bd. The total receipts were :—Taken at the doors, £32 9s od ; sale of exhibits (including prizes not allotted, and others returned to society's funds), £11 9s lOd ; shooting by, ' Volunteer,' £1 3s 8d; donations by certain gentlemen, £1.
