DUNEDIN.
This day. Mrs Ah Kutn, wife of a Chinaman residing in Castle Street, wan taken into custody, charged with wounding her hnsband by cutting his throat. Ah Kum is in the Hospital, and be states that his wife inflicted the wound,.while she avers he did it himself in a fit of jealousy. The wound is not severe. The woman is English, and was married three weeks.
A cottage in G-len s'reet has been burnt. It was insured for £225, and tlio furniture for £75 in the Houth British.
Friday night. Fatal Occident "by Fire.
A sad accident happened at Palmerston on Friday night, whereby a little girl, daughter of Mr John Hewitt, was burnt to death. The child was left with another in tiio house, and the elder child went out to get some coal, and on her return found her sister in flames. A ..neighbour immediately rushed to the 'houses but, unfortunately, too late to save the child's life.
