Buchanan, master mariner, the liabilities were set down at £123, assets, nominal, £15 ; h'so of Daniel Jiynn, holelkcitper, Coromnndel, liabilities £270, assets £130.

Tote, M.H.It., and all the otli'-r Auckland representatives.—The undersigned, unemployed men of Auckland, do hereby petition you to use your influence with the Government to commence some public works immediately, so as lo flnd employment for us, whereby we can earn a subsistence for oursolves and families. We are and have been walking the streets in enforced idleness, fully expecting the commencement of the works at Newmarket. Trusting you will bring pressure to bear upon Government to open sorao works at once to afford us relief." Mr Stnr'k submitted the matter to the Mayor before forwarding the petition, and he promised to do everything in his power to promote its object.
